    Sony State of Play 2026 Was Packed: Here Are the Biggest Moments From the Stream

    Sony’s State of Play is one of the most anticipated events for gamers every year. The company hosts these showcases multiple times annually to reveal new games, updates, and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party developers.

    Last night’s State of Play ran for over an hour and delivered numerous major announcements. From God of War remakes to new Castlevania games and surprise releases, the presentation packed a lot into its runtime.

    In this article, we’ll explore the biggest moments and announcements from the stream.


    The Major Announcements

    • Santa Monica Studio announced they started working on a remake for the original God of War trilogy. The project is still in early development, and TC Carson will reprise his role as Kratos. Along with the trilogy remake, they also shadow-dropped God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2D side-scrolling game that’s available now on PS5.
    • Saber Interactive revealed an untitled John Wick game in collaboration with Lionsgate and franchise director Chad Stahelski. The third-person action game features Keanu Reeves reprising his role and will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
    • Capcom showed a new trailer for Pragmata, which launches on April 24 with a playable demo available now. Remedy Entertainment also showcased Control Resonant with the first gameplay trailer featuring Dylan Faden exploring a twisted version of Manhattan.
    • Ember Lab announced Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The game features an older Kena traveling to a mysterious island with new elemental abilities and spirit companions. It launches on PS5 and PC later this year.

    The REST of the Show

    • IO Interactive showed a new story trailer for 007 First Light. The game launches on PS5 on May 27 and follows a young Bond before he becomes 007.
    • Capcom revealed a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, which launches on February 27. The trailer shows Leon returning to Raccoon City and dealing with an infection.
    • Bad Robot Games showcased 4: Loop, the four-player co-op shooter from Left 4 Dead creator Mike Booth. The gameplay trailer revealed a Rubik’s Cube boss and unique alien mechanics.
    • Beast of Reincarnation from Pokemon developer Game Freak launches on August 4. The action RPG is set in a sci-fi inspired far-future Japan and features a woman and her dog companion battling through a corrupted world.
    • Brigandine Abyss, a new entry in the single player fantasy strategy RPG series, was announced for release later in 2026.
    • Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse brings the legendary 2D action-exploration series back this year on PS5. The game is developed by Konami alongside Evil Empire and Motion Twin, creators of Dead Cells.
    • Crimson Moon from ProbablyMonsters is a third-person action game where players take on the role of a half-man/half-angel knight. The game launches later this year on PS5.
    • Darwin’s Paradox, the octopus-based puzzle platformer, launches on April 2. A demo inspired by Metal Gear Solid is available now.
    • Dead or Alive 6 Last Round launches on PS5 on June 25. This definitive version of the 2019 brawler will launch simultaneously with both standard and free-to-play editions.
    • Death Stranding 2: On the Beach comes to PC on March 19. The port will feature upscaling, frame generation, DualSense support, and new modes.
    • Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the free multiplayer DLC for Ghost of Yōtei, launches on March 10. The four-player co-op mode features distinct character classes and multiple mission types.
    • Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered launches on March 3 for PS4 and PS5. The remaster includes upgraded visuals and content from a canceled sequel.
    • Marathon from Bungie launches on March 5 with a Server Slam preview weekend from February 26 to March 2. The multiplayer shooter showed off new gameplay and weapons.
    • MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls arrives on PS5 and PC on August 6. The Arc System Works fighting game revealed three new roster additions including Wolverine, Magik, and Danger.
    • Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 launches on August 27. The collection includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
    • Mina the Hollower gets a PS5-exclusive demo launching tomorrow. The action-adventure game from Yacht Club releases in Spring 2026.
    • Neva: Prologue, a new prologue chapter for the 2024 indie hit, launches on February 19. The base game is required to play this new content.
    • Project Windless is a dark fantasy open-world action RPG from Krafton Montreal Studio. The game features a dual-wielding warrior chicken based on the Korean novel The Bird That Drinks Tears.
